Toy Poodles are a beautiful, generally fluffy little dog associated with France. They are considered Water Dogs and are sometimes suited to owners with dog allergies as they shed the least hair of all the dog breeds.
Poodle Needs
They need a lot of interaction with people along with mental and physical exercise. Due to their small size, a short walk or indoor games can generally be sufficient to meet their exercise needs.
Grooming
Poodle hair doesn’t generally fall out like other dogs, however when it sheds it gets caught in the surrounding hair and matts. For this reason, it should be brushed every day or two. Regular clipping is also required (generally monthly for the face and feet) although most owners have their dog professional groomed.
Health Concerns
The major concerns of the breed include Epilepsy, Legg perthes, with a life span of 12 to 14 years
Temperament
The Toy Poodle is a very bright dog and easy to train. It is alert, responsive, playful, lively, sensitive and eager to please. It is devoted to its family although some can be reserved with strangers with the potential downside that some might bark a lot.
They are not generally suited to households with a lot of tension and can develop separation anxiety if left alone for long periods of time.
